When I first met Nicole & Mark, it was like meeting up with some old friends you haven’t seen in a while. Funny enough, after speaking for a bit we figured out that Mark grew up about two blocks away from me and Nicole just a few minutes further. When they told me they were having a George Weir Barn wedding with lots of rustic details (and a Mister Softee truck!), I was definitely game to capture their day.

George Weir Barn is one of Long Island’s best venues for a rustic wedding- there’s something special about the feel of being in a wood structure that is a few hundred years old. Pair that with a couple of high school sweethearts like Nicole & Mark and you’ve got a formula for an amazing wedding day. All of the vintage decorations and details were put together by the bride, groom, family and friends- pretty damn impressive if I do say so myself.

It’s amazing how you can connect with people from across the world via the Internet and then meet up in real life and hit it off immediately. That’s exactly what happened when we met and swapped portraits with Irish wedding photographers Laurie and David from Awake and Dreaming on our recent trip to Ireland. Not only do these two make some amazing photographs but they are the nicest, most genuine people you could meet.

To start, David drove us down to some incredible cliffs near Doolin (and made us sit on the very edge of one!). We then wandered some more in the Burren, one of Ireland’s most unique areas featuring landscapes filled with limestone rocks sticking out of the signature Irish green grass. And to think, David and Laurie were nervous to be in front of the camera for once- it doesn’t look like it to me when you check out these photos below. It’s clear that they are incredibly passionate and affectionate in their relationship when you check out the looks they were giving each other during this session.

Laurie & David, you guys rock- it was awesome meeting you both and taking photos of you!

When you have a bride willing to lay down in grass full of jumping crickets in her wedding dress, you know it’s going to be a good day. Jess and Paul’s wedding was held at The Creek Club in Locust Valley, NY and it couldn’t have been more memorable. I feel like I know Long Island well, living here and all, but sometimes I’m pleasantly surprised when I come across a place like this that I haven’t been to before. This country club on the North Shore not only has stunning grounds but also has a beautiful beach front. Jess and Paul wandered across the whole property via golf cart and we made some awesome photos- can’t get much better than that.
